In India, the National Highways Development Project is being carried out to upgrade, rehabilitate and widen major highways to a higher standard. "National Highways" account for only about 2% of the total length of roads, but carry about 40% of the total traffic across the length and breadth of the country. These projects are managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways. The NHDP represents 49,260 km of roads and highways work and construction in order to boost economic development of India.
"Prashant Surveys" is the first company in India to procure Two numbers of Leica Mobile LiDAR & Mapping Systems. "Leica Pegasus One" in March 2015 and "Leica Pegasus Two" in Dec 2016. Prashant Surveys is the only Land Surveying and Mapping Company in India having the capacity to capture Mobile LiDAR data for about 300 Kilometers per day using both the instruments with the accuracy of about +/- 2 cm
This Leica Pegasus system gives a unique & complete Survey grade mobile mapping solution to our clients with high speed & accuracy. The system can be mounted on any four wheeler vehicle & can capture high precise data upto +/- 2 cm for about 300 Km of Highways in one day using two instruments, which would have taken at least a month using primitive Electronic Total Stations (ETS) method. The overall accuracy of the data which can be easily achieved is about +/- 2 cm.
The Pegasus system captures dense 3D point cloud data with calibrated imagery and enables processing, visualization and mapping through user-friendly software platform "Way Point Inertial Explorer, Leica Auto PP & Leica Map Factory Advanced." Further, after post processing & feature extraction of the 3D point cloud data, output in desired format like Autocad *.dwg or Arc GIS *.shp files can be obtained.
For some inaccessible areas, or bypasses where the four wheeler vehicle cannot be driven, the Mobile LiDAR technology can be assisted by the UAV/Drone surveys to generate a complete data of the given corridor.
